On May 16, Lincoln Bike Kitchen was proud to partner with Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital for the inaugural Pedal for Madonna event, a community ride designed to make cycling accessible and enjoyable for riders of all abilities.
The event featured 1-, 3-, and 10-mile routes, allowing participants to choose a distance that matched their comfort level and cycling experience. In addition to the ride, attendees had the opportunity to explore adaptive cycling through the Adaptive Cycling Expo hosted by Spokes Fighting Strokes. The expo provided individuals with mobility limitations a chance to learn about and test a variety of adaptive bicycles and cycling equipment designed to meet diverse needs and abilities.
Lincoln Bike Kitchen volunteers provided mechanic support throughout the event, helping riders address minor bicycle issues and ensuring participants could enjoy a safe and successful ride.
The event aligns closely with Lincoln Bike Kitchen's mission of transforming lives by making cycling accessible for people in need. From time to time, LBK receives donated adaptive bicycles, which are often customized to meet an individual's specific needs. Our partnership with Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital provides a valuable connection to professionals who can help identify recipients who may benefit from these specialized bicycles.
We are grateful to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital for inviting us to participate in this inaugural event and for their commitment to making cycling more accessible for people of all abilities. Events like Pedal for Madonna remind us that cycling truly can be for everyone.
